The first and only time I met Bruce was at the VOR convention just outside of LA in October 1998. When I first found out about the convention I knew I had to go. I had been waiting for Bruce to come East for a convention, even had reservation for a convention in Philadelphia that he was suppose to attend, but as B5 was ending I had a feeling this might be my last chance. We saw him only from a distance on the first day, but on the second day of the convention I finally got to meet him. We stood in line for hours for his autograph. We were near the end of the line and the rest of the convention had closed down. As we got closer my stomach got those pesky butterflies, my hands started to sweat and shake, and I felt like I had to go to the bathroom. I had my husband go first because I was so nervous. By the time it was my turn my mind blanked, all I could do was tell him my name and spell it so he could personalize the photo. He was busy talking to Brian, who was running the convention, about his time he spent in Ireland and drinking beer over there. My hubby asked if he could take our picture. As I leaned closer to Bruce over the table I said," I hope you don't mind if I get close." He just smile at me then at the camera. It was over so quickly, and nothing occurred that hasn't occurred with hundreds of his fans, but to me it was special. It was definitely worth the 14 hours of travel each way, the thousands of dollars we spent, and the hours of waiting in line.
