The first time I met Bruce was at a Creations convention in 1996. He had been signing autographs for over an hour and when my turn came up, I could see that his hand was starting to
cramp, because he was flexing it and I asked him if he could still feel his hand, he looked up at me and gave me a crooked smile and said and I'm paraphrasing here "oh man, it's dead, I can't feel it
anymore". Then he looked at Jerry Doyle's signature on the same photo and he said, "look at this, does this look like a signature to you?" he then signed the photo and said, "this is a
signature...". I then moved to the next B5 actor which was Bill Mumy. This was my first encounter with Bruce. Since then my friends and I have met him many times at different occasions, and every
time feels like the first, because it is always special and exciting and so much fun. Bruce is genuinely one of the nicest, down to earth persons I've had the privilege to meet. What you see is what you
get. There are no hidden agendas, he tells you exactly what he feels and thinks. There is no fake affection and care, you can see that he loves his fans and adores his family. A rare specimen of
humanity indeed. |
